ไม้เนื้อแข็ง

ไม้ประเภทนี้เป็นไม้ที่แปรรูปมาจากต้นไม้ที่มีอายุหลายสิบปี จะมีสีเข้มกว่าไม้ประเภทอื่น นิยมใช้งานประเภทที่ต้องรับน้ำหนักมากหรือส่วนที่เป็นโครงสร้างหลักของบ้าน เสา คาน เพดาน ตลอดจนการปูพื้น ข้อดีคือมีความแข็งแรงสูง เนื้อแน่น ทนแรงกระแทกได้ดี สามารถใช้งานภายนอกได้เพราะทนต่อสภาพอากาศแปรปรวน แต่มีข้อควรระวังคือมักจะเกิดการบิดตัว มีการยืดหดตัวขยายตัวสูง ไม้เนื้อแข็งที่นิยมในตลาดวัสดุไทยได้แก่ ไม้มะค่า, ไม้เต็ง, ไม้รัง, ไม้แดง, ไม้ตะแบก และไม้ตะเคียนทอง เป็นต้น
